BTW, this is on repeat at the moment.
BTW, this is on repeat at the moment.
It’s been a while since I’ve written… probably not a bad thing for some of you haha. As always, these seems like a short topic in my head, but will probably go for a while. I’m sure this time though that this is gonna be short.
But for this, I’m gonna be revolving the entire thing on the metaphor of a long walk, kinda based on the idea of a walk with God. Picture yourself walking on a large plain, full of life or not, your choice but it has a landscape is not bare. The idea is to get to the end.
Now think about some people you know… the downers, the ones who seem to complain a lot, the joyful, the ones with their heads in the clouds, etc. I think we all know people like these.
Usually, when we walk we put our head level with the horizon and walk forward. Sometimes we look down while we walk, sometimes we look up, but probably the main reason we look forward, head level, is so we don’t run into anything or trip or anything. Also, always looking up while walking is totally weird.
Let’s go back to our metaphorical world now. Imagine if you always looked down when you walked. You would only see the ground and nothing in front of you. Not only that, you would probably see everything and their refuse. When you look down at the ground all the time, you are sure to see lots of crap, trash, and things people don’t want to deal with. When all you see are these things, you would be very right to complain about the nature of things, how the only things in this world seem to be the products of greed and corruption. Maybe these reflect the notions of a downer, how all they say that nothing is good in this world and everything is hopeless.
But maybe you walk with your head down for another reason. Maybe on this plain you accidentally walked, or were purposely thrown into, a hole, with no escape and only the hope of rescue to keep you company. When you finally got out, all you wanted to do was to keep yourself from falling down another hole. Perfectly acceptable, no one wants to be hurt in the same way over and over again. Maybe you’re not looking directly down at the ground, but enough that your focus is nothing else. If you do end up looking directly at the ground, maybe you fall into more holes cause you can’t see where you’re going. In any case, you don’t have your head level.
Let’s go to the other extreme. If you’re looking up all the time you see only the sky. I kind of associate looking up with looking to God, so I hope you can follow. Walking like this will let you see the trees, the clouds, and the birds. At night you can see the moon, stars, maybe some planets, but all in all lots of pretty things. You get to marvel at everything God has done and all the good times you and He had together. But you face the same problem with the people who are always looking down: you have no idea what is coming in front of you, and the fact of the matter is that the downers are not always wrong about the junk that exists in this world. Looking up all the time kinda makes you blissfully ignorant of all that goes on in the world, and should you happen to fall into a hole you look for a new reason: “Why God why?”
But then again, you might be looking up for a different reason. Worse yet, you might have your eyes closed, kinda of the people who stick their nose into the air cause they think they shouldn’t have to associate or even have to look at other people. These people… not really sure what do with them. I like to think they run into someone who is taller and scarier than them to make them realize that people are all the same.
Sometimes the people who look down all the time never look up to see the wonders of the world and seek God who would be willing to help them, and the only time they look up is when they fall into a hole. And the people who are always looking up only expect the walk with God to be a happy, joyful, and easy ride, and when they fall into a hole all they have is bitterness and don’t understand why they fell in.
But what if your head is level? Well most times when your head is level and walking, you are walking towards something you have in mind: you are going to class, you are picking up groceries, you are going to your car, etc. In other words, you have a goal, short or long term. Sometimes you look up to see the wonders, sometimes you look down to watch out for holes but never focus on either for long. You take what you need, you move forward.
Sometimes I think about my spiritual walk and usually I say that most times I’m pretty aloof, in this case I’m looking up most of the time or at least saying my line of sight points upwards rather than level. I don’t really like looking down to all the bad things of the world because it makes me sad, and sometimes makes me feel guilty for not really doing anything for it. But I always remember to every so often keep my head level to head for the goal that God has set for me, and believe that everyone has a goal set for them by God, whether they know it or not.
So maybe you feel like a downer or a blissful person. I think either is fine, so long as we don’t forget the goal we have set for us and never stop striving for it. Keeping our head mentally level while maybe concentrating on the thing before us. Just never forget that something good lies in wait for you, and you may fall into a hole or run into something, but nothing should stop you from keeping pace and continuing on.
Well… not so short… again.
This captures fairly well what the third wheel feels like haha

A Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
I am lightning matches and putting half the flame into a vile to make smoke
Then when the fire gets too close to my fingers, I throw the rest of the match in
Rinse and repeat
When I feel like I’ve filled enough smoke in my room, I take the vile to the bathroom to cool the matches with water then throw them away
I’m not weird
As in, muchies, then 10 minutes later, snooze

Moon and Planets Align in Korea
Moon and planets align in the evening sky as seen from Geojedo Island of Korea. The crescent Moon is the lowest, while Venus (in conjunction with the Moon) is second on the line, then Mars, and last Jupiter among stars of Capricornus.
